Sustainability & Impact

Handcrafted furniture that's here for good

Our commitment at The Joinery extends beyond exceptional furniture to an intentional way of doing business.

We make meaningful, lasting impact through sustainable practices, active community involvement, and care for our employees. As a Certified B Corporation™ since 2010, we meet rigorous standards for environmental performance and social responsibility. Our efforts have been widely recognized, including consistent placement on Oregon Business Magazine’s 100 Best Green Workplaces in Oregon and the Portland Business Journal’s Most Admired Companies list.

Our furniture is built from sustainably harvested U.S. hardwoods in our Portland workshop. In a world of mass-production where furniture is often discarded in a few short years, ours is made to last – and carries a lifetime guarantee. We continually work to reduce waste throughout our process, upcycle residual wood, select enduring finishes, prioritize repairability, and create timeless designs.

Most importantly, we believe that lasting impact begins with people. From supporting our craftspeople in meaningful, skilled careers to engaging deeply with our local community, we are committed to building relationships that strengthen both our team and the place we call home.

For us, responsibility is not an initiative. It is a standard woven into how we design, build, and lead.
