Save the Date: The Alameda Table's Debut

Detail of wood table with tile logos

Join us on May 7 for the debut of the Alameda Coffee Table, a collaboration with Pratt + Larson Ceramics that brings together the magic of the kiln and the mystery of the trees in a single, beautifully considered piece. Inspired by Japanese textiles, the table pairs textured hand-glazed ceramic tile from Pratt + Larson with The Joinery’s signature solid wood construction. The natural variation intrinsic to these two organic materials mean that every piece is truly one of a kind. Up close, you’ll find the play of glazes, the grain of the wood, and the love of craft in every detail. Come experience it for yourself on May 7th at our Pearl District showroom.

The project unites two of Portland’s most enduring craft studios, bringing together handcrafted wood furniture and artisan tile in a unified expression of form and material. Rooted in a shared commitment to thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and sustainability, the collaboration reflects the values that have defined both studios across decades of making.

"Ceramics, like wood, has natural variation intrinsic to its production,” said Belle Iskowitz, President of Pratt and Larson.  “The magic of the kiln and the mystery of the trees seems like a perfect pairing. We could have just provided some coasters for your lovely coffee tables — but how cool is it to embed them right into the finished product?”

The Joinery and Pratt + Larson share more than a city: both are long-standing pillars of Portland’s craft community, with histories that stretch back to the same era of the city’s creative growth. That kinship is woven into the piece itself.

During the opening, visitors are invited to experience the Alameda Coffee Table up close — tracing the play of patterns, the flow of glazes, and the grain of the wood. Up close, each element reveals the love of craft in its making; from a distance, it resolves into something cohesive and quietly extraordinary.
